Lilac-Crowned Parrot Amazona finschi


Description

Like other parrots, the Lilac-crowned is quite vocal. This bird feeds on fruits and seeds.



Appearance

Green plumage. Maroon forehead. Violet-blue crown and nape. Pale-yellow bill. Orangish eye. Pale greenish-gray legs. Plumage colors resemble that of Red-crowned Parrot, only duller. 12.5 to 13 inches in length.



Habitat

Dry tropical forests and oak forests. Native to pacific coastal Mexico.



Nesting

2-4 eggs. The eggs have a 26 day incubation period. Fledging occurs in 54-60 days.
