BATAQUITOS LAGOON
A large lagoon located just south of Carlsbad. This region is currently
under restoration, to save the lagoon, by the Port Of Los Angeles. This is
a wonderful place to see birds. Terns, Kingfishers, Red-Winged Blackbirds
and many others can be found here. Since this is a coastal lagoon, the
water is closest to the hiking trails during high tide. This means that
the best time to see the shorebirds is during high tide. So keep this
in mind while visiting.
